Koh Samui Weather In July

Come to Koh Samui and you'll surely have fun in the sun (photo courtesy of  www.shasahotels.com)

People hate having their vacations ruined by torrential rainfall and snow. Fortunately, the Koh Samui weather is affected by two seasons only, which doesn’t include snow, so vacationers will only have to worry about the rain.

Lots of folks from all over the planet like to plan their vacations during the month of July for whatever reasons they may have. However, this is essentially the worse time of year to plan a holiday to Thailand and mainly because it’s expected to rain hard in certain areas, including  Samui.

However, while it does rain during this month in Thailand’s second largest island, it only typically rains for a short period during the afternoon. Moreover, it lasts for a short duration of time, which may range somewhere in between five to thirty minutes. Both locals and tourists alike actually enjoy the little rain shower that takes place in the afternoon since it helps cool everything down, as well as give a wonderful “glistening look” to all the plants and structures it touches.

The average Koh Samui weather in July is pretty good, with temperatures measuring approximately 29 degrees Celsius; the lowest it reaches is around 23 degrees Celsius, making it an excellent place to visit during this particular time of the year.

Moving forward, there are plenty of things to do when visiting this islet in July – plenty of foreigners choose to have their weddings hosted on this romantic island during this month. While planning a wedding during a time of year when it’s expected to rain sounds a bit unreasonable, local tradition says otherwise – rain that touches the bride and groom is actually a good thing, since it’s believed to purify their bodies and souls, thereby allowing them to start anew in holy matrimony.

Other activities to do during the afternoon rain shower include having a meal or a few Thai beers at the beach. Most resorts have rain screens to keep their guests dry, thereby allowing them to enjoy hearty meals and alcoholic beverages while enjoying the ocean view.

For those who’d like to stay indoors during the rainy Samui weather, there is a wide range of spas to head on over to. Many accommodations offer such facilities within their compounds. Samui is considered as one of the best spa destinations in all of Asia, so indulging in this activity while the rain pours (again, doesn’t last too long) is always an option!

Koh Samui Activities For Children & Adults

Kids and parents will both have the time of their life in Koh Samui (photo courtesy flickr.com)
Parents are sometimes left with no choice but to leave their kids at home during vacations for numerous reasons, such as a lack of things for the young ones to do upon arrival at the tourist destination.

Luckily, planning a family vacation to this tropical island is no problem, thanks to the numerous Koh Samui activities to do on the island, family resorts, various Samui restaurants and other attractions that the whole family can enjoy.

With that being said, one place a family should take a trip to is the Ang Thong Marine Park. Comprised of beautiful coves and deserted beaches, this attraction grants its visitors an unmatched feeling of complete freedom with incredible “nothingness” around the tourist destination’s exterior. Moreover, since there are a variety of sea creatures near the shoreline, snorkelling is a highly recommended activity for guests to engage in.

Another thing that adults and kids will enjoy is the elephant trek. Under the supervision of a tour guide, trekkers not only get to relish a once-in-a-life-time ride on an actual elephant, but they also get to learn more interesting facts about the mystical island as well.

There are a bundle of other Koh Samui activities specifically designed to cater to children, such as playing mini-golf at Mini Golf International. For a more complete range of undertakings created for young ones, various hotels feature kids’ clubs within their compounds such as the ShaSa resort, which was also voted as one of the best family hotels in Koh Samui on Trip Advisor.

Furthermore, there are some delicious restaurants near these residential areas, which offer menus crafted for children. Everything from western and local kid’s food to non-alcoholic cocktails is available at such establishments.

Moving forward, heading over to Tesco is another place where the entire family can stay busy. Here, kids can find a vast assortment of toys, which include action figures, Barbie dolls, wooden frogs, puzzles, beach buckets, toys and more.

Tesco also offers other activities for the whole gang to partake, such as bowling at Major Bowl Hit – the 8-lane alley offers loads of fun through friendly competition amongst family members, or even with the locals. When hungry, Tesco has a range of Koh Samui restaurants that serve various local and international dishes that are sure to please everyone.

There are of course, plenty of other Samui activities for loved ones to enjoy at this tropical island. When planning a trip, it’d be wise to include plans for what activities to take part in ahead of time to ensure a memorable vacation.

A Date for Two at the ShaSa Resort

The ShaSa resort is the perfect place for couples. (photo courtesy of www.shasahotels.com)

While taking a girl to local restaurants, bars, clubs and other places designed for catering entertainment needs is all right, the routine can get a little too repetitive. Some females have the tendency to get bored of seeing the same places or doing the same thing over and over again.

Sometimes a gal needs to be treated extra special. With that being said, taking that special someone on a vacation to the ShaSa Resort & Residences in Koh Samui is one of the best ways to show a girl how much she truly is appreciated, which is an excellent strategy for rekindling the romance within a relationship.

There may be dozens of good condominiums, villas, and other residential units for rent, but hardly any of these can match up to the premium accommodations, services, and amenities rendered by the ShaSa hotel. Here, lovebirds will be stunned by the impressive interior design and overall layout their rooms.
In addition to the stylish furniture and fixtures, the suites come with balconies sporting an elegantly designed table plus chairs, and offer an excellent view of the vast ocean outside. Located at the hotel are the 5 star restaurants, Beyond the Sea that is terrific for a relishing dinner for two, all the while enjoying the romantic view of the moon hovering over the glistening seawater.

Aside from spoiling the gal with lavish accommodations, taking her to the spa conveniently located within the ShaSa Resort & Residences compound, is highly recommended. Getting a couple's massage is a good way to vent all the stress one has accumulated, which in turn helps reinvigorate the physical and mental condition of the couple, and ultimately leaves more space for love plus positivity.

Another sure-fire method to get her falling in love all over again is to take her on a cruise going to Ang Thong Marine Park. Here, twosomes can feel free to explore the tourist attraction, go kayaking, or do a little snorkelling near the shoreline. Although the trip itself will last for hours, the beautiful scenery of the surrounding environment will definitely make a woman happy.

Another thing a person can do is taking his gal out to one of the fancy nightspots near ShaSa Resort & Residences. Listening to live music played by the finest musicians within and outside the island is a great way to spend a night in paradise. Lastly a person can simply just go out for a romantic walk around the Laemsett beach.

Also, some of the best local cuisines can be found here, all of which are guaranteed to make a woman happy.

Renting A Car in Koh Samui

Renting a car will make your stay in Koh Samui a whole lot better (photo courtesy flickr.com)
Renting a car is a great idea if you plan on touring the Koh Samui.  While there may be several tourist spots that are within the vicinity of the beach, there are also several other tourist spots you can visit and other Koh Samui activities you can do if you rent a car.  With a car, you won’t have a hard time enjoying the various things to do in Koh Samui.

You have two choices if you plan on renting a car.  The first is through the Budget Counter at the Koh Samui Airport.  This is convenient and you can even choose a larger vehicle since large rental agencies offer their customers a wide selection of cars.  The downside however is they can be somewhat expensive than the usual.  Then there are the independent local shops offering rent-a-car services.  They are cheaper and do not require lengthy terms of agreement.  These shops can provide Toyota/Honda automatics or Suzuki 4x4s.  However you have to be careful since a lot of these so-called car rental shops offer bogus services.

If it’s your first time traveling to Koh Samui then you have to familiarize yourself on the process of renting a car before you start thinking about the other things to do in Koh Samui.  First you choose the type of car you want.  Make sure it has its license number and airbag and seatbelts for safe driving.  Next is to confirm the rent amount and the car’s insurance.  Then you sign an agreement.  As standard procedure you need to leave your passport as collateral.  Do not forget the car shop’s contact details, have them always with you in case you might encounter a problem and need their assistance.

Before you get too excited on the Koh Samui activities you’ve wanted to do, there are some reminders that you need to consider first when driving in Koh Samui.  Similar to UK, driving in Koh Samui Thailand is on the left side.  Stalls on the roadsides sell gas/petrol in a 1-litre bottle but this is expensive.  For a cheaper price, you can opt for petrol stations along the way.  When it comes to parking your car, it is mostly free to do so.  Fishermen’s Village however is an exception.  A parking fee is charged within the area.  In some instances, you may encounter wild animals such as water buffalos along the road so you have to be careful.  Some roads narrow down to a single lane and some do not have pavements so it is important to pay attention all the time.

Motorbikes and scooters are common in Koh Samui so using a mirror is a good option.  Some roads are in poor condition and some even have large potholes.  During the rainy season, roads in Koh Samui can be flooded however if you’re willing to try and enjoy the various things to do in Koh Samui then these won’t be a problem; you only need a little creativity in navigating these roads.  Be mindful also of the lorries and big trucks you might come across along the roads.

Excited to experience some Koh Samui activities and adventures?  Then start planning your trip now.

The 3 Most Interesting Koh Samui Attractions

One of the most interesting sites in Koh Samui is the Magic Garden (photo courtesy of flickr.com)
There are tons of things to do in Koh Samui to keep you entertained throughout the duration of your vacation. While the typical activities include swimming in the crystal clear ocean water under the hot sun, building sand castles and paying a visit to Koh Samui attractions is one way to maximize a holiday at this tropical island.

However, the average time that a vacationer spends at this islet (which is about five days) isn’t enough to visit and enjoy everything that this island has to offer. With that being said, this blog will list and describe the three most interesting ones that you shouldn’t miss out on.

Visitors of this island are advised to visit the attractions listed here first, and then use their remaining time to check out others sites.

The first place that a tourist should visit is the Samui Snake Farm – here, vacationists can get a close-up view of Thailand’s most beautiful and dangerous snakes. This reptile zoo also features sixty-minute shows wherein trained professionals engage in daring acts of interaction with poisonous snakes and scorpions. Considered as one of the biggest Koh Samui attractions, shows are held every day, and are guaranteed to send tingles down the spines of spectators.

Another place that you shouldn’t miss out on is the Magic Garden. Located within the deeper parts of the jungle, this attraction features treasures and statues carved by Nim Thongsuk (deceased.) The garden is very serene and tranquil.

No one should attempt to get to Magic Garden on his or her own – its location makes it quite difficult to get to, therefore, a local driver with a 4 x 4 vehicle will be needed. Also, the driver should know his way around the area, because anyone could easily get lost.

The last place that you must visit when you go to Koh Samui is the Monkey Theatre, which is a place where locals show visitors how monkeys are trained to harvest coconuts atop tall coconut trees. The mere sight of monkeys obeying the commands of a human (in this case, gathering coconuts) makes paying a visit to this attraction one of the best things to do in Koh Samui.

There are of course, plenty of other Koh Samui attractions for tourists to see such as the famous temples, secluded islands, tiger zoo, crocodile shows and much more. Make sure to visit as many of these sites as possible you won’t regret it.
